Stefanos Korkolis, The Interview
Stefanos, was very kind to reply to all our questions, which we appreciate very much! Thank you to a great and humble inspiration of our times.
Here it is:
Q: Was there a specific moment that inspired you to get involved with music?
Stefanos: There was no specific moment, everything evolved by itself. But there were certain circumstances such as the fact that my home had a piano and great love for good music. I grew up with beautiful sounds that may have awoken the musical element in my DNA. The occurrence happened, when my father took me to see my first film “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”. When we returned home, my mother asked me what I understood from the movie and I told her that I loved the music and I sat at the piano and played the music theme with my own variations. I was four years old. I cannot explain how and why, besides there will be many children protégés. I was one of them too. As I said, there were great teachers and music at the time.
Q: Where do you see your works 10 years from now?
Stefanos: I do not look forward to the future. Only time will judge my music course so far. For now, I am content to continue to write and create.
Q: What should every person try at least once in their life?
Stefanos: I believe that for each person it’s different. Surpassing goals, is something that everyone needs to risk in their field. Risking the moment of absolute sincerity, and that of strong self-judgment.
Q: What brings you the greatest joy?
Stefanos: Creativity, and the happiness of the people I love
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Stefanos: A lot, but I keep the one from the lips of the great Vladimir Horowitz. We must serve the music and not use it as a medium for self-promotion.
Q: What is on your bookshelf?
Stefanos: Ancient classical poets, history books and Asterix. And of course hundreds of music scores.
Q: What is on your bucket list?
Stefanos: Not much. To live every moment peacefully.
Q: Who are your heroes?
Stefanos: People who do not give up in general.
Q: What is your greatest indulgence?
Stefanos: My Sincerity. Unfortunately, I am not a diplomat, something that may have deprived me much. In our line of work, lies and flattery are loved.
Q: What quote do you live by?
Stefanos: Be yourself whatever the cost might be.
Q: Best gift you’ve ever received?
Stefanos: An apology
Q: Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Stefanos: I think there are many things that people do not know about me. It is very easy to manufacture a fake image for any public figure. Those who are close to me, are surprised at how simple I am, as they say.
Q: One thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
Stefanos: Nothing because I would lose the innocence of my youth.
Q: One sentence that describes Greece for you.
Stefanos: The cradle of civilization worldwide
