Scythian objects from the Hermitage to go on display at Acropolis Museum
Three golden Scythian finds from the collection of Saint Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum will go on display at the Acropolis Museum in Athens as part of a series of cultural exchanges between the two countries within the framework of the “2016 Greek-Russian initiative”, the Athens museum announced on Thursday.
In exchange, a marble statue of the Archaic Kore 670 from the Acropolis Museum collection will be presented at the Hermitage.
The three Scythian objects going on display in Athens are two vessels and a piece of jewelry discovered in a 4th century BC grave in Crimea in 1830.
The pieces will be showcased at the Acropolis Museum foyer, an admission-free area, from March 11 to October 16.
